ABOUT – HOW TO TAME YOUR STORY

This is a place to discuss and learn about screenwriting and related topics.

The website:

  • Has a broad international perspective
  • Focuses on collaborative writing as well as individual writing
  • Looks at practical realities as well as creative issues in professional writing
  • Examines updates in the media industry
  • Helps readers learn fundamentals and advanced concepts and skills in screenwriting

There are many excellent screenwriting websites comprising a rich online network of writers and creators. We wish to be part of that network by contributing to the discussion and bringing in new perspectives and ideas from a variety of sources.

We ask these key questions: What we can learn from writers and creators from other cultures and how can we connect with creative networks in other regions as well as our own? This is not political, it is practical. When we know what is happening creatively around the world, we broaden our own perspectives, build our writing skills, increase our chances of working on international projects, and extend our creative reach.

We also ask:

  • How can we work effectively with writing teams and development executives?
  • What changes are taking place in media? How can we be ready for them?
  • How can we continue to learn about screenwriting so we can become better and better writers over time.

Writers and artists come in all shapes and sizes and hold views of all kinds. Liberal, conservative, religious, secular, quirky and downright bizarre. All are welcome here. We are non-partisan. We stand with writers and artists against those who would silence or censor them no matter what the censor’s ideology or agenda may be. Yes, there are limits to free expression, but those limits should be as wide as possible. Good discussions and good stories bring people together; they don’t push people apart.
