Some of the best African films are made in South Africa with shows like Blood Psalms and Catch Me a Killer drawing the attention of the world. International and local streamers like Netflix and Showmax are producing shows with larger budgets and longer shooting schedules, so the quality of films is rapidly increasing. Nevertheless, filmmakers are facing multiple challenges including infrastructure problems: many people will not go to theatres now because of frequent electrical blackouts. There are also government funding problems, and the lingering negative effects of Covid.
